Self-Employed Taxes

You are self-employed if you: carry on a trade or business as a sole proprietor; are an independent contractor or consultant; or are a member of a partnership. If you are an officer of a corporation, you are considered an employee of the corporation. Different tax rules apply to you if you are self-employed.
